Servers: Integration with Incident Manager

General Description

The Servers module automatically generates infrastructure incidents in the Incident Manager based on scheduled tasks and incoming server metrics.

Incident Generation

Incident registration is performed automatically according to a set of rules included in the content module.

The module generates incidents for the following typical scenarios:

  • high CPU load (over 85%)
  • high RAM consumption (over 90%)
  • high Load Average on Linux servers (load average / core over 1)
  • critical file system filling (over 90%)
  • absence of fresh metrics from server (longer than 15 min)
  • presence of actual zombie processes on Linux servers (if any)

Task Example

The scheduled task High CPU Load searches for servers with sustained exceeding of the average processor load threshold, enriches the results with server context, and forms a description, additional fields, and a link to detailing for incident registration in the Incident Manager.

Result

After task execution, incidents are automatically created in the Incident Manager and contain:

  • title with deviation type and server name
  • description of the detected state
  • additional fields with server context and metric values
  • link to the rule and event fixation time
  • module tag for quick incident filtering

Information

The Servers module incidents are focused on operational control of infrastructure deviations and use server context from Inventory and normalized directories of the module.
